Summer Riding Camps

Saddle Up for Summer at the Ken-Caryl Equestrian Center

Whether your child is brand new to horses or already loves life in the saddle, our Summer Riding Camps offer an unforgettable experience filled with riding, horsemanship, confidence-building, and fun.

Led by experienced instructors in a safe and supportive environment, campers learn hands-on horse care, riding skills, and barn basics while making new friends and creating lasting memories.

Camp Options

Picnic with the Ponies

Perfect for younger horse lovers, Picnic with the Ponies introduces campers to the basics of horse care and riding in a relaxed and encouraging setting. Campers will learn how to safely interact with horses while building confidence through hands-on activities, grooming, and riding experiences. Parents are invited to attend the final day of camp at 1:15 p.m. to watch campers show off their riding skills.

Maximum of 2 sessions per child.

What to Bring

Each camper should bring:

  • Water bottle
  • Snack or lunch
  • Long pants
  • Heeled boots for riding
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat (recommended)

Helmets are provided, but campers are welcome to bring their own.

Equestrian Summer Camp

In this camp students will learn many aspects of horse care including handling, body language and psychology, tack cleaning, grooming, feeding, and, of course, horseback riding! They will have a wonderful horse experience while learning to be safe around horses. Kids may ride either English or Western in any of the camps. These camps are appropriate for kids with a variety of horse experience. Each day of camp includes 1.5 hours of horse contact, including one ride per day. Parents are welcome to join us on the last day of camp at 10:45 a.m. to see their kids show their talent on horseback.

Volunteer Opportunities

2026 Volunteer Positions Filled

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Ken-Caryl Equestrian Center. All Summer Camp volunteer positions for the 2026 season have been filled.

Volunteers play an important role in supporting our camp programs and helping young riders build confidence around horses. Volunteer opportunities are typically available for individuals ages 11 and older who have prior horse experience and can groom and tack up independently.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Because camp spaces fill quickly and waitlists are common, cancellations and schedule changes are limited.

  • A $40 deposit per program is nonrefundable and nontransferable.

2026 Cancellation Deadlines

  • On or before May 15, 2026:
    • $40 deposit forfeited per week
    • Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing
    • Schedule changes or session transfers are not available
  • After May 15, 2026:
    • No refunds or changes available
