- Notify adjacent neighbors
- Obtain all required permits
- Subassociation approval may be required
Special Considerations
Paint Color Requests
Ken-Caryl Ranch maintains a database of previously approved exterior paint colors to help keep a cohesive look throughout the community.
If you’d like to match an existing home’s color scheme, you can submit a request using the Exterior Home Paint Color Reference Request Form (limit three addresses per request).
Please note: this form is for reference only and is not an approval request. A separate application is still required.
Properties Adjacent to Open Space
Access through open space for private property work is not allowed (per Open Space and Parks Rules #5 and #7).
If access is necessary, you’ll need to submit a permit request through the Open Space Department. This process may take up to 30 days and may include a Property Boundary Line Assessment (PBLA) by the Rangers.
Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Requirements
Wildfire resiliency is a critical part of protecting our community. Ken-Caryl Ranch works closely with West Metro Fire and Jefferson County as updated wildfire resiliency codes are developed and reviewed.
Based on current information, new wildfire resiliency codes are expected to primarily affect:
- New construction
- Exterior improvement projects that impact 25% or more of a home’s exterior in WUI areas
These updates are tentatively scheduled to take effect July 1, 2026. KCRMA staff and the Architectural Committee will review and incorporate any new requirements into the Ken-Caryl Ranch Rules, Regulations and Procedures as needed.
For more information, you can review Jefferson County’s Notice of Hearing and full case file, which includes details on the proposed updates and opportunities for public input.
If you have questions, please contact Brian Yowell, MA Executive Director.
