Snow Removal

Keeping roads, trails, sidewalks, and community spaces safe during winter weather is a shared effort across Ken-Caryl Ranch.

Snow removal responsibilities vary depending on the type of roadway, trail, or sidewalk and may involve the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District, Master Association, Jefferson County or homeowners.

Trails & Community Facilities

The Metropolitan District and Open Space teams maintain approximately 25 miles of paved trails, sidewalks, parking lots and priority community facilities throughout Ken-Caryl Ranch.

Snow removal typically begins once accumulation reaches approximately three inches or when conditions are expected to remain icy for an extended period.

Streets & Roads

Jefferson County is responsible for snow removal on public streets throughout Ken-Caryl Ranch. Crews prioritize major roads, school zones, bus routes, collector streets and residential areas as conditions allow.

Residential Sidewalks

Homeowners are responsible for clearing sidewalks adjacent to their property, including areas near mailboxes, driveways and fire hydrants. Residents are encouraged to clear sidewalks within 24-hours after snowfall ends.
