Snow Removal
Keeping roads, trails, sidewalks, and community spaces safe during winter weather is a shared effort across Ken-Caryl Ranch.
Snow removal responsibilities vary depending on the type of roadway, trail, or sidewalk and may involve the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District, Master Association, Jefferson County or homeowners.
Trails & Community Facilities
The Metropolitan District and Open Space teams maintain approximately 25 miles of paved trails, sidewalks, parking lots and priority community facilities throughout Ken-Caryl Ranch.
Snow removal typically begins once accumulation reaches approximately three inches or when conditions are expected to remain icy for an extended period.
Streets & Roads
Jefferson County is responsible for snow removal on public streets throughout Ken-Caryl Ranch. Crews prioritize major roads, school zones, bus routes, collector streets and residential areas as conditions allow.
Residential Sidewalks
Homeowners are responsible for clearing sidewalks adjacent to their property, including areas near mailboxes, driveways and fire hydrants. Residents are encouraged to clear sidewalks within 24-hours after snowfall ends.

Trash & Recycling
Weekly trash and recycling service is provided through Waste Connections and is included with homeowner dues.
Residents can find pickup schedules, collection guidelines, bulk item information, holiday delays and contact information below.
Trash Collection Guidelines
Ken-Caryl residents may place out the following each week for collection:
- Up to 6 cans or bags of household trash
- Up to 6 bags or bundles of yard debris
Yard debris bundles must:
- Be securely tied with string or twine
- Be no longer than 4 feet in length
- Be manageable by one person
Please place trash and recycling at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day and position containers on opposite sides of the driveway when possible.
Recycling Service
Waste Connections provides single-stream recycling service, allowing recyclable materials to be combined in one container.
If you choose not to use a recycling bin, please do not bag recyclable items, as bagged materials may be mistaken for trash.
Holiday Pickup Schedule
Waste Connections observes the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- July 4
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
If your collection day falls on or after a holiday, service may be delayed by one day during that week.
